Katrina’s IVAH Bio

I joined the amazing team at IVAH in January 2023 after moving from Vancouver, B.C. Everyone has welcomed me into the veterinary assistant role with open arms and I'm very excited to be a part of the team. On the West Coast I worked in a small animal practice as an assistant/receptionist before moving to Etobicoke to be with family.

My passion for animals began early in life and I’ve always loved handling exotic species like my cousin's leopard gecko Nimbus, snakes, and even a tarantula (though once was enough with that creepy crawly). I started out working at a pet store but a couple years later I began volunteering with an animal hospital to make a bigger impact. After that I formally entered the veterinary profession working as a vet assistant while also getting my animal health care certification. I also had the opportunity to volunteer with the Wildlife Rescue Association of B.C caring for wild birds and helping to raise ducklings.

I could be the one helping to weigh your adorable pet and escort you to the exam room! Otherwise, I'm likely to be behind the scenes keeping the hospital clean, assisting with surgeries, and comforting patients in our care.

I am a “Pawrent” to a beautiful tuxedo cat named Kitty who can do tricks (when she feels inclined) and loves to boss around my Nan’s two dogs Frenchie and Geena. When I'm not with my four-legged friends I enjoy reading, hiking, and hanging out with family. I plan to go back to school in the future to upgrade to an RVT and continue my career in animal care.
